Counselling

Counselling is an evolving process that takes the therapeutic relationship from inititation to closure. This process is founded on the premise of building a strong therapeutic alliance that is safe and constructive, sensitive and affirming of person, social location and cultural belief. My approach to counselling involves inviting the possibility of connection in ways that are affirming and intersectional, with a movement toward self-discovery and self-exploration in ways that will attend to the needs of the client. Counselling sessions are 50 minutes in length.

Physchotherapy

Psychotherapy is a psychological treatment that utilizes the relationship and communication (verbal and non-verbal) between a patient and the therapist for the purpose of removing, modifying, retarding, or supressing pathological processes that interfere with personality function and development. My approach when engaging with psychotherapy will include processes that will employ means such as advice, encouragement, guidance, re-education, reassurance, suggestion, and behavior modification. Psychotherapy sessions are 50 minutes in length.

The primary focus of my work is in the area of grief and loss. I work with children, young adults, and adults. I also offer consultation to groups in this area with a specific focus on the intersectionality of grief and loss from a multicultural lens.

  • Grief and Loss: I invite all to engage with how they are getting impacted by their narratives of grief and loss. however, my practice invites men that are struggling in this area, to create space and engage with tears as they allow themselves to grief the loss of their lived ones.
  • Trauma and Sudden Loss: The sudden news of a loss creates significant trauma whose impact lasts a lifetime.
  • Child and Infant Death Counselling for Men: This is one of the hardest experience any human being can experience. Our time will focus on allowing you to be in the space in ways that are connecting to your experience. I hold this space for you and be with you as you engage with your sense of grief from your loss.
  • Cultural Adjustment Issues: For those struggling with assimilation and cultural difference.
  • Multicultural Issues: Those feeling lost in a space that they are struggling to call their own
  • Spirituality: Anything that brings meaning to you and any struggles you might have around the intersectionality of spirituality and your life experience/s.
